You were the first kind face I met

ya were a mother a grandmother and not just a neighbour

ya were there for me whenever and however

ya were the glu binding all the family

the whole neighbourhood and sometimes all the colony

ya were the wife who stood beside the man you loved

when you walked out of your door in that grace

would leave many in envy

would be there for everyone everyday

you were a mother a wife and so much and so great

it was only a fall that brought out all the sorrow we feel today

it was all to tell us that ya wont be for long with us that day

matter of months and days

and i lost the precious sight of you

i miss you for myself

i miss you for my girl

i miss you for your family

i miss you for what you were

i wish wishes could come true

and i could see you walk out of your door again

i leave my lights on deliberately

in a hope that you would call to ask me about my girl

i turn to your garden in a hope

that you would appear from behind some rose

but no matter how much i wish

the truth is........

that ya are at peace

( Dedicated to my good neighbour Jean who was the first one to greet me when I started my new life 6 years ago. She lost her battle to Cancer within months and I feel still to be in the state of denial.
